The Science Bit:
La Ronciere is the FIRST winery to use the Development Development System for Improvement of Vine Roots which allows for perfect ripening without high alcohol levels. This is where micro-organisms in (pure) certified compost are introduced into the irrigation system. Oxygen is then injected under pressure into this mix to leave high levels of oxygen in the liquid. This allows the micro-organisms to multiply at high-speed. Introduced into the soil, these micro-organisms work on the chemical components in the soil. The vine roots benefit from this more nutritious and digestible soil which in turn leads to better root growth and plant balance.

This is applied early in the cycle to prevent disease. La Ronciere is only one of two wineries using this in Chile. Heat is applied in short bursts to each plant (four seconds at two hundred km/h). This resultant shock allows the vine to build up the anti-bodies it requires to fight against possible disease later on in the year. The result is a resilient plant on which the fruit is completely unaffected. |
