What is Crush?

A company specilising in Ex-cellar sales, we think of ourselves as an extension of the winery and as the eyes and ears of our customers.

Lean, Mean & Green Lean: We have a lean business structure, minimising overheads and ensuring better value for money. Green: We use suppliers who care about the environment and we list several organic lines. Through Gorilla Wines we are helping support the endangered Mountain Gorilla. Lean and green, then, but not really mean at all!

Sourcing We scour the world for wineries with character, passion and real points of differece. We don’t deal with just anyone!

Passion We think that passion is important when working in something as emotive as wine: that goes for producers and salesmen alike.

Exposure We have a stand at the major wine fairs and trade events, as well as excellent contacts with journalists, to give maximum exposure to our clients and our brands.

Customer Focus We’re in tune with the requirements of our customers in terms of service, quality, margin requirement and volume aspirations.

Quality Everything from the wine itself to the packaging, bottling, marketing and the service you receive afterwards is of the very highest quality—it’s just the way we do things!

Who’s Running Things?

Chris Ellis is Managing Director. Following several years with European Vintners he joined Skalli International as Export Director for Europe & Australasia with responsibility for various sectors of the market. More recently he was Sales & Marketing Director at Western Wines, where he was instrumental in developing and establishing wines such as Cono Sur & Isla Negra. The concept  and creation of Kumala was his, seeing its development through from sourcing, blending, distribution and marketing (though when it suits, him he claims to have had nothing to do with it!).

He directs a hard-working, multi-tasking team of talented and dedicated individuals...is the honest, unbiased opinion prevalent in the office!

Andrew Walker has got about a bit since the late 1980s when he entered the wine trade, working with Cordier, Deutz and Delas in France, Neil Ellis & Vreisenhof in South Africa, and Sebastiani in California. He settled into the role of UK Manager for Kingston Estates of Australia for a good 9 years, and has also managed KEW customers in Europe. He has good experience of both bulk and bottled wine sales, and is now revelling in the esteem that comes with the title of Sales Director at Crush Wines!

Our suppliers produce wine in an environmentally & socially responsible manner where possible. Some wines are organic or use no synthetic chemicals, and all make sure their workers are well cared for. We back the Black Empowerment Program, responsible drinking, sustainable viticulture and low-carbon wineries. Remember that while some producers pay for certain certifications and put little stickers on their bottles, other just do it.
